Since England has not conquered all America, cataloged and disseminated around worldwide to United States like America, instead from America. And the world believed it.

In the nineteenth century the United States took great strength in the world economy become the actual global hegemonic land, which everybody knows. Maybe, the civilized people in order to deal with exaggerated respect to the USA people called them like Americans, so much the only English definition for USA citizen is "American" In other languages like German are called US-Amerikaner, when they realize someone from rest of America is found in their conversation group and want to respect her/him, otherwise they use the term "Amerikaner." In turn, the means in spanish is estadounidense, which is easy beacuse the change in the order of substantive and adjective.

However the concept is not entirely wrong for global dominant economies. America is USA and the rest of America means south of America, or south of USA in order to have a higher precision. Of course, don’t forget regarding to the rest of the world, Central America and the Caribbean is only an invented term, all that is South America. The worse, the civilized deal us sometimes as ignorant for don’t have any idea of these things so easy to understand.

Usually the people don’t say they speak English of England, but British English; however we can say Spanish of Spain. The reason to do it is does not offend the other nations of Great Britain where also is spoke English. Otherwise, USA English is called "American English", assuming that also the rest of America speaks English, or at least that this sort of English in very similar to the another four English-speaking nations of America.

Sorry civilized and well educated people, sorry developed countries, sorry friend around the world, who always use American term exclusively for US-Americans, but America is more than the lot you have in mind. Thanks to this dialectic confusion, which usually does not have any relevance for the most, is ignored each cultural, linguistic, historical, social and other aspects of our continent.

America was the name designated to the countries localized between Patagonia and Canada, the only continent which links the two poles of the planet. I am Colombian American and that take offensive for me when American term is only used to mention US-American people. I only ask for a little of respect, like say developed and/or civilized people, why you don’t have any idea of these things so easy to understand?



Dado que Inglaterra no pudo conquistar todo América, catalogó y difundió por el mundo a Estados Unidos como América, y no de América. Y el mundo les siguió el cuento.

En el siglo XIX Estados Unidos tomó gran fuerza en la economía mundial hasta ser la hegemonía mundial que todavía sigue siendo en la actualidad. Para tratarlos a lo mejor con exagerado respecto se les llamó Americanos a los estadounidenses, al punto que la única definción en inglés para su ciudadania es "american". En otros idiomas como el aleman se les llama US-Amerikaner, cuando se percatan que alguien procedente del resto de América se encuentra presente en el grupo de conversación y quiere respetarlo; de lo contrario se les dice "Amerikaner".

Pero el concepto no está del todo errado desde el punto de vista de las economías dominantes a nivel mundial. América es USA y el resto es Sudamérica; es decir, al sur de América, o al sur de USA para ser más precisos. Recordar que para el resto del mundo Centro América y el Caribe es un invento, todo eso lo llaman Sudamérica. Hasta nos tratan de ignorantes por no saber esas cosas tan simples.

La gente no dice que habla inglés de Inglaterra, sino inglés británico; pero nosotros si podemos decir español de España. La razón es no ofender al resto de naciones de Gran Bretaña donde tambien hablan inglés. Al inglés estadounidense por su parte se le denomina "inglés americano" como sí en el resto de América hablaramos inglés, o al menos ese tipo de inglés en las cuatro restantes naciones de habla inglesa en América.

Perdón mundo civilizado y bien educado, perdón paises desarrollados, perdón amigos que siempre utilizan american para referirse a los estadounidenses, pero América es más que el lote que tienen en mente. Tener esta confusión dialectica, la cual suele importarles nada a la mayoría, es ignorar toda la riqueza cultural, idiomática, histórica, social y demás que hay detrás de este nombre.

América fue el nombre designado a los paises que conforman al único contienente que une los dos polos del planeta desde la Patagonia hasta Canadá. Soy colombiano de América y me ofende que se utilice el nombre sólo para referirse a los estadounidenses al igual como le ofende a muchos habitantes de América.

sólo se pide un poco de respeto. tal como dicen los muy civilizados, no entiendo como no saben esas cosas tan sencillas.
